Nashua Forecast: Thundersnow
Latest Nashua forecast: a nor'easter Thursday will bring 8-12 inches of snow; lightning is possible.
NASHUA, NH — Nashua's first nor'easter of the winter will cover the city in 8-12 inches of snow and possibly light up the night skies Thursday, according to latest forecasts. A winter storm warning is in effect for Nashua Thursday at 10 a.m. through Friday at 5 a.m. The snow will be heaviest Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service.
The storm may include thundersnow for parts of New Hampshire and Maine, according to NWS.
Thundersnow is a rare phenomenon that produces shallow lightning close to the ground.

This is the winter storm warning for Nashua Thursday and Friday:
- A WINTER STORM WARNING...REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THURSDAY TO 5 AM EST FRIDAY.
- ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 12 TO 16 INCHES.
- TIMING...SNOW WILL START BETWEEN LATE MORNING TO EARLY AFTERNOON THURSDAY AND BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND NIGHT. AN ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM IS ALSO POSSIBLE. THE SNOW WILL COME TO AN END FROM SOUTH TO NORTH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING.
- IMPACTS...TRAVEL WILL BECOME DIFFICULT AT BEST THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND THURSDAY NIGHT. SOME POWER OUTAGES WILL BE POSSIBLE WHERE TEMPERATURES LINGER AROUND THE FREEZING MARK DUE TO A POTENTIAL PERIOD OF WET SNOW.
- WINDS...NORTH 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.
- TEMPERATURES...IN THE UPPER 20S.
- VISIBILITIES...ONE QUARTER MILE OR LESS AT TIMES.
