Nashua Garden Club and Nashua Public Library Host Seed Swap
All gardeners, experienced and novice, are invited to view and obtain varieties of seeds that will expand their gardens.

After sitting out 2021 due to the impact of Covid-19, the Nashua Garden Club and Nashua
Public Library are again partnering to present the city’s annual Seed Swap. To enable social
distancing, this event will follow a new format and will be distributed across several days: Feb.
28th- Mar. 6th during library hours. All gardeners, experienced and novice, are invited to view
and obtain varieties of seeds that will expand their gardens.
Participants who have seeds to swap can bring them to the Chandler Memorial Wing of the
Nashua Library (Ground Floor) before Feb. 28th. Seeds should be packaged in small quantities,
not too old (2 years for most seeds) and labeled with name and growing instructions.
Gardeners are invited to participate in several additional ways. Free samples will be available
from collections generously donated by Baker Seeds (www.rareseeds.com ), Hudson Valley
Seeds (www.hudsonvalleyseed.com ), Native Seeds Search (www.nativeseeds.org ) and High
Mowing Seeds (www.highmowingseeds.com ). Attendees will have opportunities to learn about
how to start and collect seeds, new seed varieties and local agricultural programs. The library
will feature display of gardening books and host a raffle for antique flower prints.
To enrich these activities, the library will present a free, virtual lecture, “The Soil Food Web”, on
Thursday, Mar. 3rd, at 7 PM. The speaker, Diane Miessler, certified permaculture designer and
author of “Grow Good Soil”, will discuss how to maintain soil health and basic composting
techniques. To register visit: bit.ly/soil2022 .
These free events are sure to have something for all levels of gardeners. Information about the
