The Nashua Garden Club, like the rest of the Nashua community has learned to co-exist with and even thrive despite the ongoing presence of COVID. The group ended 2022 in full stride building upon its traditional practice of contributing to charitable organizations and then began 2023 with its first in-person January Kickoff since pre-Covid days.

In early December the Garden Club identified local charities to receive monetary
donations in support of their work throughout the Nashua Community. This year club members also increased the number of recipients and the amount of each contribution. Five organizations were selected including two focused on growing gardening knowledge and opportunity throughout the local community. These educational organizations, Regenerative Roots, and Grow Nashua received $150 each. Grow Nashua will put their donation toward their “Veggies at Home”
program which brings veggies over the winter to a Nashua family. Gifts of $250 were presented to the Santa Fund, Southern New Hampshire Rescue Mission, and Marguerite’s Place. Southern New Hampshire Rescue Mission used theirs to assist with the opening of their “Hope Center for Women” which will provide respite for 25 homeless women.

Holiday festivities continued into January as the Garden Club kicked off 2023 in style. Members celebrated in person for the first time since 2020 with a hands-on workshop lead by Cheryl Cravino of Hosta Amour in Pelham NH. Participants built their own succulent garden in a
colander. This interactive activity was followed by a potluck lunch and Yankee Swap. 2023 promises to be an exciting year as the club is also re-opening its monthly educational programs to the public. Meetings are held the 1st Wednesday of the month at the First Baptist Church, 121 Manchester Street, Nashua NH. Additional information on programs, the club and membership can be found at www.nashuanhgardenclub.org .
