Nashua Garden Club Spreads Cheer Through Local Charities
The Nashua Garden Club continues its holiday tradition of supporting local, charitable organizations
2021 continued to be a year full of twists and turns and challenges as we learned to live with Covid. While portions of our routines resumed a bit, the Nashua Garden Club continued to refrain from conducting public fund-raising activities. However, club members voted, without hesitation, to maintain its annual tradition of supporting local, charitable organizations.
Every holiday season the club identifies local, benevolent organizations, including one that focuses on gardening education, to receive monetary donations. This year’s selections were awarded $125 each and include The Humane Society of Greater Nashua, 68 Hours of Hunger, The PLUS Company and the educational association, Regenerative Roots.
Members of the Garden Club were inspired to hear how their contributions assist these remarkable organizations in delivering much needed services. As The PLUS Company responded,
“These are truly difficult times for all of us, and your support is appreciated now more than ever.” They will use their donation to provide access to equipment necessary to keep staff and clients safe as they empower individuals with disabilities to maximize their independence. The Humane Society of Greater Nashua will utilize its donation to help shelter and provide veterinary care
for the 2,500 pets that they take in each year including support for its life-saving transport programs that remove animals from abusive situations in other states.

Though the effort to contain Covid led the Garden Club to modify its activities in 2021, members
were thrilled to participate in outdoor garden tours over the summer and to virtually conduct informative, entertaining programs throughout the year. The club has grown and is open to new members. Smaller, socially distanced teams can also be seen throughout the greater Nashua area, nurturing a variety of gardens such as the Sensory Garden in Greeley Park and the grounds of the Greater Nashua Humane Society.
