Police apprehended Soto on Water Street near the Nashua River but he was not in possession of the gun. Members of the Nashua Police Underwater Recovery Unit “responded several hours after the arrest and searched an area,” in an attempt to find the stolen firearm looking for the firearm.
An hour later, they found the gun, according to police.
It was later learned that the gun had been stolen from Bedford during a burglary. Since Soto had a prior felony conviction, more charges were added to his arrest.
Soto was held on $50,000 cash bail and arraigned on Aug. 29. He faces up to 22 years in prison plus fines.
