Nashua Man Arrested on Rape Charges

Police: Heriberto Torres faces felony aggravated sexual assault charges after an alleged incident on Sunday.

NASHUA, NH - A local man has been arrested on rape charges after an incident against a victim he knew during the weekend, according to police.

Heriberto Figueroa Torres, 33, of Palm Street in Nashua, was arrested at 9:45 p.m. on April 17, 2016, and charged with aggravated felonious sexual assault and aggravated felonious sexual assault-domestic violence, both felonies.

According to police, on the date in question, police received a report of a sexual assault. Detectives investigated the incident and reportedly identified Torres as a suspect.

“The adult victim reported that Heriberto Figueroa-Torres held the victim down and forced the victim to engage in sexual intercourse at a Nashua residence,” according to Lt. Kerry Baxter of the Nashua Police Department. “The victim and Heriberto Figueroa Torres are known to one another.”

After investigating the incident, a warrant was issued for Torres for sexual assault and a domestic charge, since the victim was known to him, according to police. He was arrested and held on $50,000 cash bail. Torres was due to be arraigned on Monday.

If convicted, Torres faces up to 15 years in prison.
