Nashua Man Beats Woman, Flees When Cops Called: Police

Charles Wells, 33, of Nashua, kicked a woman in the head and strangled her then ran off when police were called, authorities said.

NASHUA, NH — A Nashua man was arrested early Sunday after police said he beat his girlfriend to the ground and strangled her. Charles Wells, 33, was charged with a host of domestic violence offenses.

Nashua police Lt. Kerry Baxter said on Sunday at about 4 a.m., officers responded to a city residence for a report of a domestic dispute. Officers made contact with the victim, who said Wells pushed her to the floor, kicked her in the head and stomach and strangled her. Wells fled the residence after police were called, Baxter said. He was tracked down a short time later and arrested. His girlfriend was hospitalized.

Wells was held on $25,000 bail pending an arraignment in Nashua District Court.
