Nashua Man Charged In $5K Fraud: Police

Nashua police said Matthew Carrier forged multiple checks and stole nearly $5,000.

NASHUA, NH — A Nashua man was arrested Monday on charges he forged multiple checks and stole nearly $5,000. Matthew Carrier, 25, was charged with forgery and two counts of theft. His bail was set at $5,000.

Nashua police Lt. Craig Allard said officers started an investigation August 25 after several individuals reported fraudulent activity on their bank accounts. (Sign up for free daily newsletters and breaking news alerts from Nashua Patch.)

"Several checks had been stolen from their home and made out to Carrier with forged signatures," Allard said in a statement. "Carrier subsequently cashed these checks and received a total of $4,540."

Carrier was held pending an arraignment Tuesday in Nashua District Court.
