Nashua Man Dies In Hudson After Jet Ski Collides With Pontoon Boat On The Merrimack River

HUDSON, NH — A man from Nashua died Sunday afternoon after a crash between watercraft on the Merrimack River, according to New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol.

Around 5:15 p.m., state troopers and marine patrol officers were sent to a crash with serious injuries on the Hudson side of the Merrimack River. One man, Erick H. Machado, 31, of Nashua, died during the crash. According to a preliminary investigation, Machado was riding a jet ski when he collided with the rear of a pontoon boat. The crash sent him into the water, where he was struck by the boat’s propeller, a report stated.

Machado suffered from severe injuries to his legs during the crash.

People on the pontoon boat called 911 while Good Samaritans on another craft were able to get Machado out of the water and onto another boat. He was then taken to shore, where Hudson police and fire and rescue teams attempted to save his life. Machado, however, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A medical examiner was also requested.

Marine Patrol said, while the exact circumstances of the incident remain under investigation, the death is not believed to be suspicious.
