Nashua Man Exploited Victim In Social Security Scam: Police

Nashua police said James Brunelle exploited an individual and illegally cashed Social Security checks.

NASHUA, NH — A Nashua man was arrested Thursday on charges he stole an individual's Social Security checks and used the money for himself. James Brunelle, 43, was charged with financial exploiting an elderly, disabled or impaired adult — a felony. He was held on $11,000 bail pending an arraignment Friday in Nashua District Court.

Nashua police Lt. Craig Allard said police opened an investigation August 30 after receiving information about Brunelle stealing Social Security checks.

"Detectives identified Brunelle, who was known to the victim, as the suspect and were able to determine that he was using the victim’s Social Security checks and keeping the money for his personal use," Allard said in a statement.
