Nashua Man Punched, Strangled Woman: Police

Michael Stevens, of Nashua, beat up a woman then fought friends who tried to rescue her, police said.

NASHUA, NH — A Nashua man was arrested Sunday on charges he strangled a woman, punched her in the face multiple times, and fought friends who tried to rescue her, police said.

Michael Stevens, 21, of Nashua, was charged with a host of crimes.

Police said the victim told officers Stevens beat her up at a city residence, punching her in the face multiple times.

"The victim called some friends to come pick her up," Nashua police Lt. Kerry Baxter said in a statement. "When the friends arrived, Stevens began fighting with them. During that fight, Stevens sustained injuries to his face and head. Also, at one point during the fight with the victim’s friends, Stevens was able to break free and attack the victim again by pushing her to the ground and strangling her."

Stevens and the woman were hospitalized. Stevens was charged with two counts of domestic violence and two counts of second-degree assault. He was released on $1,500 bail.
