Nashua Man Set Fire To Homeless Bus Shelter He Lived At: Police

Police said Brandon Middaugh, 27, set the fire that then spread to a residential apartment building.

NASHUA, MA — A Nashua man was faces arson and other charges after he lit fire to the homeless shelter bus he was staying on, police said.

Brandon Middaugh, 27, was arrested Tuesday when authorities responding to the Chestnut Street Mission found Middaugh assaulting a person, according to police, who said he also resisted arrest. The person suffered minor injuries.

An investigation revealed Middaugh started the bus fire, which spread to a residential apartment building, both of which "sustained signifiant damage," police said.

Middaugh, who was initially charged with simple assault and two counts of resisting arrest/detention, while having a warrant for his arrest, was then charged with felony arson. Middaugh could be sentenced to as many as 10 years in prison if convicted.
