Nashua Man Strangled, Beat Girlfriend: Police

Nashua police said Carlos Lopez-Alzate was charged with 10 crimes after beating his girlfriend Tuesday morning.

NASHUA, NH — A Nashua man was arrested Tuesday and charged with 10 crimes after police said he strangled and beat his girlfriend. Carlos Lopez-Alzate, 29, refused bail and was held at the Valley Street Jail pending an arraignment Wednesday in Hillsborough County Superior Court, police said. Nashua police Lieutenant Kerry Baxter said the assault happened at a downtown residence.

"The victim stated that she had argued with her boyfriend, Lopez –Alzate, and that he strangled her and tripped her and caused her to fall," Baxter said in a statement. "Officers also determined that Lopez – Alzate punched her in the head and torso. Lopez – Alzate fled the area, but was located by patrol ... and placed under arrest."

Lopez-Alzate was charged with:

  • Second-degree assault
  • Second-degree assault (domestic violence-related)
  • Four counts of domestic violence
  • Four counts of assault
