Nashua Man Waves Firearm on Lock Street, Gets Arrested

Stephen Welch was arrested on Aug. 24, on conduct, threat charges.

A local man is facing felony charges after a gun incident on Lock Street.

Stephen Welch, 25, of A Cross Street in Nashua, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 24, and charged with reckless conduct and criminal threatening, both felonies.

According to a police report, officers were sent to Lock Street around 10:50 p.m. on Aug. 23, for a report of a disorderly man “screaming and yelling” at another person.

“A verbal argument between Welch and a male known to him quickly escalated and Welch pulled out a firearm, recklessly waving it around and pointing it at people,” according to Lt. Denis Linehan of the department’s criminal investigation division.

Members of the department investigated the incident and later, arrested Welch. He was held on $10,000 cash bail and arraigned in Nashua District Court on Aug. 25.

No one was injured and the gun was not discharged, according to police.

If found guilty, Welch could be sent to prison for up to seven years and be fined, too.
