Nashua Officials Warning Residents: Stay Cool This Weekend

The city's emergency management office recommends staying cool and hydrated this weekend and next week as a heat wave is expected to hit NH.

NASHUA, NH — A heat wave – more than three consecutive days of temperatures above 90 degrees – is expected to hit the Granite State in the coming days. This is why Nashua emergency management officials are warning residents to "stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay informed" this weekend and next week. City pools – six in all – will be open at various times for general swim hours.

If the heat gets to be too unbearable, officials advise visiting the Pheasant Lane Mall, Nashua Public Library, Nashua Senior Activity Center, and the Nashua YMCA, during the hours that each facility is open, for a cooling time.

Officials also warn residents to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids while also avoiding alcohol and caffeine; wear loose clothing; stay indoors with air-conditioning (or relocate to a cool indoor area); if you must be outside, stay in shaded areas; check in on friends and family who might be vulnerable to the heat; and check on pets and animals.
