Nashua Police Chase: Suspect Crashes Downtown
Nashua police said Lawrence Thomas led officers on a car chase through downtown Nashua and crashed into a monument near City Hall.
NASHUA, NH — A New York fugitive driving around Nashua with drugs led police on a chase Sunday and crashed into a monument near City Hall before he was arrested, police said. Lawrence Thomas, 53, of the Bronx, faces a host of charges. The incident happened at about 2:30 a.m., according to police.

"Officers observed a vehicle (with Thomas driving) traveling the wrong way on Kinsley Street and attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop," Nashua police Lieutenant Robert Page said in a statement. "The involved vehicle accelerated and continued west on Kinsley Street before turning north on Ash Street, again, against one way traffic."

Thomas continued to drive against traffic then started driving in circles near City Hall, police said, adding he struck a monument and flower pot. At that point, he fled on foot but was captured, police said. He was found to be in possession of a small quantity of unidentified drugs, police said.
During the booking process, Thomas provided a fake name and date of birth, police said. He was held on $100,000 bail pending an arraignment Monday in Nashua District Court. He was charged with:

- Resisting arrest - two counts
- Disobeying a police officer
- Conduct after an accident
- Driving without a license
- Unsworn falsification
- Drug possession - three counts
Police said he also had warrants out of Rochester and Sullivan County.
