Nashua Police Honor Officers For Bravery, Lifesaving, Merit

NASHUA, NH — Nashua Police Chief Michael Carignan honored Dawn Ariel and Officers Scott Ciszek, Shaun Mailloux and Greg Miller for their efforts in saving a despondent man who jumped into the Nashua River in April during an awards, swearing-in and promotional ceremony on Sept. 3. Officers Kevin Delaney and Michael Kekejian and Detective Michael Lang were also honored at the ceremony.

Ariel, a communications technician, received a letter of recognition, Ciszek received a commendation bar for lifesaving and Mailloux and Miller each received a medal for lifesaving with valor for their actions in the Nashua River incident.

Delaney received a commendation bar for lifesaving for his efforts saving a man who was attempting to commit suicide in June. Lang received a commendation bard for meritorious service for his undercover investigation into cocaine and crack cocaine distribution in the city that resulted in nine arrests on federal narcotics trafficking charges.

Kekejian received a medal of valor and bravery for his significant struggle with a person who stole a police cruiser from a motor vehicle stop. Kekejian fought with the suspect as the suspect drove through the city, almost striking two pedestrians. Kekejian single-handedly arrested the suspect despite sustaining injuries during the altercation.

Officer Matthew Belletete was also sworn in as the newest member of the department, while Deputy Chief of Police Kevin Rourke, Captain Craig Allard, Lieutenant Peter Urban, Sergeant Matthew McConnell and Sergeant Matthew Allen were sworn in to new supervisory positions.
