Nashua Responds To Extreme Cold With Warnings And Shelter Options

Temperatures are forecasted to be -30 to -40 degrees with the wind chill from Friday into Saturday, the city wrote.

NASHUA, NH — Officials in the City of Nashua shared an emergency response news release Thursday addressing the forthcoming period of extreme cold and offering shelter options for those facing homelessness.

Temperatures are forecasted to be -30 to -40 degrees with the wind chill from Friday into Saturday, the city wrote.

"Residents should practice cold weather safety by limiting time outdoors and dressing in layers if they need to go outside, watching for signs of hypothermia, and remembering to bring pets indoors," the city warned.

Nashua also reminded locals of the following locations open for warming and sheltering:

  • Crisis Assessment & Referral (CAR) - 1-844-800-9911: Monday – Friday: 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • 211 NH Homeless Resources - dial 2-1-1 available 24/7
  • Greater Nashua Mental Health (GNMH) - (603) 889-6147
  • Harbor Care (HC) – (603) 882-3616
  • Nashua City Welfare – (603) 589-4555: Monday – Friday, 8:30am to noon and 1:00pm to 4:30pm.
  • Saint Patrick’s Church Day Café: Monday – Friday, 7:00am to 9:30am.
  • Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter (NSKS)(603) 889-7770: Current hours Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm. Serve breakfast, Monday – Friday 7:30-8:30, dinner is 4-6 Monday – Saturday, and lunch on Sunday is at noon until 1:30. NSKS has opened a winter overflow shelter at 2 Quincy Street location as of 12/1/2022.
  • Southern NH Rescue Mission (SNHRM): Single male shelter at 40 Chestnut St. Single female shelter at 36 Tolles St. Meals are served at 40 Chestnut St.: breakfast Monday – Friday 7:00am, Saturday – Sunday 8:00am; lunch Monday, Wednesday – Friday 12:00pm; dinner Saturday – Sunday 5:00pm.
  • Nashua Public Library: open Monday - Thursday 9:00am to 9:00pm, closed Friday, open Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
