Nashua Sex Offender Arrested

Nashua police said Joseph Travis, convicted of rape in 1993 in Massachusetts, failed to comply with the state Sex Offender Registry.

NASHUA, NH — A Nashua sex offender was arrested Thursday for failing to comply with the terms of the state's Sex Offender Registry, police said. Joseph Travis, 48, was charged with felony duty to inform. He was arraigned Friday and held at the Valley Street Jail on $20,000 bail.

Nashua police Captain David Bailey said during a routine sex offender compliance check by officers this month, Travis, who was convicted of rape in 1993 in Middlesex County in Massachusetts, failed to report changes in his registry information.

Travis is a "Tier 3" sex offender, a designation reserved for the most serious offenders, officials said. Travis was convicted of failing to register as a sex offender in Boston in 2012, police said.
