NASHUA, NH — A convicted Nashua sex offender was arrested Wednesday on charges he failed to properly register with police. Paul Emond, 65, with no fixed address, was charged with two felonies for failing to report to police. He refused bail pending an arraignment Thursday in Nashua District Court.

Emond was convicted of indecent exposure and lewdness in Hillsborough County Superior Court in 2012, forcing him to register with police as a "Tier I" sex offender twice a year. Nashua police Lieutenant Kerry Baxter said detectives who monitor city sex offenders discovered Emond failed to comply with the terms of the sex offender registry.

"Further investigation determined that Emond moved from his previously reported address and failed to inform the Nashua Police Department as required," Baxter said in a statement.

A warrant was issued for Emond's arrest and officers came across him by chance at a city coffee shop, Baxter said. Emond was arrested on the spot.
