NASHUA, NH — The Nashua Babies R Us store in the Nashua Mall will close — one of 182 stores across the country that parent company Toys R Us on Tuesday said will be slashed. Toys R Us, a former retail giant, last year filed for bankruptcy amid increased competition from Amazon, among other factors.
The Nashua Babies R Us on Gusabel Avenue is the only New Hampshire store slated for closure. The Nashua Toys R Us is expected to remain open. Six Massachusetts stores were on the closure list.
David Brandon, chairman and CEO of the toy retailer, said the brand is reinventing itself, and that requires some “tough decisions about our priorities and focus."
