Burglar Caught in the Act, Thanks to Neighbors

Police credit neighbors for reporting what they saw.

Thanks to a pair of Vermont Avenue neighbors willing to get involved, a Hudson man is behind bars on burglary charges.

Police said Jonathan Amorella-Moore, 22, of Hudson, was caught Feb. 3 hiding inside a Nashua residence at about 11:22 a.m. after police were called to investigate what neighbors reported as a burglary in progress.

Amorella-Moore was charged with two counts of Resisting Detention, Class A Misdemeanor and Burglary, Class B Felony.

Officers were called to the home after it was reported as suspicious by a neighbor who heard loud banging coming from a home on the street just before 11 a.m. The neighbor took a look around and saw a man entering a back door. The neighbor did not recognize the man, and also noticed there were no cars at the neighbor's house.

A second neighbor also got involved by providing key details to police after making some observations at the scene.

Police said Amorella-Moore had allegedly forced entry into the residence and  started gathering items to steal.

A Class B Felony is punishable by up to seven years imprisonment exclusive of fines. Each Class A Misdemeanor is punishable by up to one in year jail exclusive of fines. Amorella-Moore is being held at the Nashua Police Department on $10,000 cash or surety bail pending his arraignment in Nashua District Court.
