New Hampshire State Police Investigating Death Of A Man Found In The Merrimack River

NASHUA, NH — New Hampshire State Police are investigating the death of a man recovered Tuesday night from the Merrimack River near the Taylor Falls Bridge on the Hudson-Nashua line.

State police said investigators do not currently believe the death is suspicious.

Marine Patrol officers received a report around 9 p.m. about a person who was possibly in the river near the bridge. A coordinated search of the river and surrounding area followed and continued for several hours.

Around 11:30 p.m., search personnel found an unresponsive 34-year-old man. He was recovered from the water and pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld pending the ongoing investigation.

Marine Patrol officers were assisted by the Hudson and Nashua police and fire departments, the Nashua Fire Rescue Dive Team and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, according to State Police. The release did not identify the man or provide additional details about how he entered the water.

State police also included a public reminder that mental health help is available. Anyone struggling with a mental health crisis can call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 for free and confidential support for themselves, a friend or a loved one, according to the release.
