According to an annual CNBC study, New Hampshire has dropped ten spots in a little over two years and is now ranked the 30th best state for business in the United States. This is a horrible trend. If the trend continues, New Hampshire will become Rhode Island North. Why is this happening?
CNBC looked at a number of factors in its study. Our education and quality of life remain good but the cost of doing business is high. Our infrastructure is horrible.
If we want businesses to thrive in New Hampshire we should lessen the cost burden from regulation, taxes, compliance, permitting, and health care mandates, and spend more tax revenues on improving our infrastructure.
We need to make New Hampshire an attractive state for out of state businesses to want to do business here too. We should stop using private small business as a revenue generator for government services and government employees and free businesses up to stimulate creativity and private sector jobs.
New Hampshire needs to reclaim its business advantage. The current leadership is taking us in the wrong direction.
