NH Woman Blames Aliens For Multi-State Carjackings: Report

GREENUP COUNTY, KY — A local woman, with a previous history of drug and other offenses in New Hampshire, was arrested last week in Kentucky on multiple charges after a multi-state carjacking spree. Amanda Fortin, 31, of Groveton, is accused of stealing two vehicles and leading police on a chase until she was stopped by traffic and a guardrail, according to WSAZ.com. The first alleged carjacking started in Cabell County, West Virginia. Fortin is then alleged to have driven into Ohio. In Portsmouth, OH, Fortin is accused of abandoning the vehicle and then using a knife to carjack another vehicle.

Sheriffs attempted to pull the vehicle over but were unable to. A deputy stated that Fortin was allegedly driving as fast as 105 mph as she crossed back into Kentucky.

Fortin was stopped, a sheriff stated, after becoming boxed in by traffic and a guardrail. She attempted to elude police by fleeing but was stopped.

A sheriff reported that she had cigarettes in her ears to "avoid hearing the voices" and said she was "controlled by aliens and other people." He added that he hoped she would be able to get some mental health services.

Fortin has previous criminal history in New Hampshire including drug and theft charges. In June 2015, she was a Fugitive of the Week on drug warrants out of Belknap and Merrimack counties. She was arrested a little less than a week later.
