New England based restaurant group establishes first New Hampshire location bringing anything-but-average Dining to the Gate City.

Featuring a globally inspired, chef-driven menu filled with delicious, affordable fare, Not Your Average Joe’s will make its New Hampshire debut in Nashua on Monday, Dec. 22.

With a formal ribbon cutting ceremony with restaurant officials and local dignitaries, Not Your Average Joe’s will open at 221 Daniel Webster Highway in Nashua next to Barnes & Noble, just a half-mile from the Pheasant Lane Mall. The new eatery, which will mark its Nashua opening by making a considerable donation to Harbor Homes, will be the restaurant’s 21st location.

“With a commitment to exceeding diners’ expectations, we are extremely excited to be bringing Not Your Average Joe’s to New Hampshire,” said Steve Silverstein, Not Your Average Joe’s founder and CEO.

“We know Nashua is going to be a great fit for us. Situated just a half-mile from the popular Pheasant Lane Mall in tax-free New Hampshire, we are looking forward to sharing our innovative, tasty cuisine and affordable prices with the residents of the Nashua area and northern Massachusetts.”

Not You Average Joe’s is known for its unique dishes and a wide-ranging menu. Favorite menu items include classic comfort fare, such as the Anything But Average Meatloaf and Mustard-Crusted Chicken, as well as globally inspired dishes, like Steak Frites and Sage and Pesto Pecan Salmon. Because each dish is made to order, guests are encouraged to request customization to meet dietary restrictions or taste preferences.

In addition to an extensive food menu, Not Your Average Joe’s offers an award-winning wine list and a broad spectrum of local, national and imported beers. With 43 bottles of wine, 22 of which are served by the glass, and 20 beers on tap, guests can find the perfect pairing to any meal.

The new restaurant features an impressive, U-shaped center bar, plush, leather seating, an open kitchen, elegantly casual interior design touches, and exposed beams that contribute to an open, inviting floor plan. The restaurant will seat 200 people, including 24 seats at the bar, plus another 50 seats on the patio. Not Your Average Joe’s has always been committed to creativity and design, Silverstein said.

Along with the restaurant’s own New England roots, Not Your Average Joe’s already has a strong connection to New Hampshire. Not Your Average Joe’s Executive Chef Jeff Tenner was previously chef and partner at Lindbergh’s Crossing in Portsmouth and the owner and chef of Ciento in Portsmouth. He has been the executive chef for Not Your Average Joe’s since August 2013.

“New Hampshire is serious about great food and so are we,” Tenner said. “I know the people of New Hampshire will appreciate Not Your Average Joe’s commitment to innovation, creativity and mouth-watering cuisine.”

Silverstein, who was heading his family’s successful menswear business at the time, longed to find a great, reasonably priced restaurant in the suburbs, where people know your name and where you feel special without dressing up. When he couldn’t find it, he opted to build it, despite a lack of experience in the restaurant business. The first location opened in Dartmouth, MA, in 1994. Since then, Not Your Average Joe’s has grown to include 21 locations along the East Coast including Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The company continues to consider additional opportunities for growth.

As part of Not Your Average Joe’s ribbon cutting ceremony on December 22, the restaurant will make a significant donation to Harbor Homes, which provides housing, support and care to those in need in the Nashua area in an effort to combat homelessness. In addition, Not Your Average Joe’s in Nashua has chosen Harbor Homes as its “Not Your Average Cause” for the month of January. Every Tuesday in January, Not Your Average Joe’s will donate 15% of purchases to Harbor Homes. Each Not Your Average Joe location chooses a different non-profit in the surrounding community to support each month with its Not Your Average Cause program.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Not Your Average Joe’s,” said Mary Tamposi of Harbor Homes. “With demand for our services increasing, particularly at this time of year, this partnership comes at a great time to have a significant impact for those in need.”

The restaurant is expected to employ over 100 area residents. Interested candidates should contact Ken Woodrow, General Manager. More information on Not Your Average Joe’s is available at notyouraveragejoes.com.
