Police: Nashua Man Swung Brush Axe at Ex-Girlfriend

A local man will be arraigned tomorrow on a number of domestic violence charges after an incident on Hanover Street earlier this week. 

Christopher Mainguy, 37, of Hanover Street in Nashua, was arrested at around 2 a.m. on Dec. 17, and charged with two counts of domestic violence simple assault, domestic violence criminal threatening, a felony, and domestic violence criminal mischief.

According to police, officers were called to an apartment on Hanover Street at just before 10 p.m. on Dec. 16, for a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, officers learned that Mainguy and his ex-girlfriend had been involved in an argument that started on Dec. 15, and continued into the next day. During the initial argument, according to Lt. James Testaverde of the Nashua Police Department, “Mainguy assaulted the adult female by grabbing her by her wrists and damaged some of her property.” The next day, the fighting continued, and Mainguy allegedly grabbed the woman by the face.

“As the incident escalated Mainguy armed himself with a brush axe and verbally threatened the female,” he stated. “Mainguy then swung the brush axe at her, nearly striking her.”

The woman sustained minor injuries. Mainguy reportedly fled the scene but was later arrested at another apartment on Auburn Street. He was held on $10,000 cash bail and will be arraigned on Dec. 18.

If convicted, Mainguy faces up 10 years in prison plus fines.
