Promoting STEM Education

Scott F. Bobbitt, DMD, MAGD, DICOI, 76 Allds St. Nashua NH marked the celebration of his 25 years as a Family Dentist by establishing a community partnership with the Academy for Science and Design (ASD) – a charter school in Nashua NH. Last year, ASD reached out for community partners to support their STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education mission, stating their need for a full and properly fitted chemistry lab for their students. Dr. Bobbitt has answered the call.

New Hampshire faces a critical shortage of students who develop and sustain their interest in STEM fields from elementary school through college. The Academy for Science and Design (ASD), the state’s top-performing public school and largest STEM-specialty school, is aimed at expanding students’ interest and ability in STEM locally and statewide.

As an Honors Scholar graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Connecticut and a Family Dentist, Dr. Bobbitt stays current with the dynamic changes in science, technology, dental engineering and math (STEM) with hundreds of hours of continuing education. According to Dr. Bobbitt, “It would be impossible to deliver the kind of dentistry I do without a strong STEM background. I would have thrived in a school like this were it available when I was a student. My general dental practice incorporates and integrates Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mathematics and Medicine every day. The practice that I have today was the stuff of science fiction when I graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine 25 years ago.”

Dr. Bobbitt holds Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD), is a Fellow and Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (DICOI) and is a Past President of both the New England Master Track Program and the Greater Nashua Dental Society. He is an active member of the Nashua community, serving as an adult leader for Boy Scout Troop 773 and on the Supervisory Board of the Bellwether Community Credit Union. He has lectured regionally and nationally on integrated dental topics and brings over 25 years of experience in comprehensive and family dentistry, laser dentistry, sleep apnea therapy, dental implant and reconstructive dentistry to the Southern New Hampshire community.

He has lived and worked in Nashua since 1993, supported by an exceptional team of 7 professionals and an extensive network of specialists who promote his philosophy of providing dentistry based on integrity, compassion, prudent judgment, and the desire to deliver excellent and predicable dental treatment that enhances the oral health for each of our trusted patients. His colleagues have selected him as one of the top General Dentists in New Hampshire for the past six years.
