Report: Avard Arrested in the Late 1990s
Republican state Senate candidate said he was going through a divorce at the time.

The Republican nominee for the District 12 state Senate seat was previously arrested in 1998 for violating a domestic violence protection order, according to WMUR-TV.
Kevin Avard confirmed that he was arrested and was in the middle of a divorce at the time. He stated that he walked onto the porch of his former home to get flippers before he took his kids swimming and that his wife wasn’t home at the time. Avard said the revelation of the arrest was “dumb” and called Democrats “desperate” for raising the issue.
Avard added that the experience was a violation of his civil rights and inspired him to work to change family laws in the Granite State. The candidate has addressed the issue of family court and law problems on his cable access show, Speak Up! NH.
