Rivier U. Holds Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony For Upgraded Trottier Hall

The renovation includes a new Nursing Simulation and Clinical Education Center and new Division of Business and Security Studies facilities.

NASHUA, NH —Rivier University in Nashua held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday for the school's renovated Sylvia Trottier Hall, which includes new facilities for the school's nursing and business programs.

The event featured several speakers, including: Rivier's President Sister Paula Marie Buley, Dean of Nursing and Health Professions Dr. Paula Williams, Dean of Business and Security Studies Dr. Amir Toosi and Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess. Other local dignitaries, benefactors and university trustees attended the event.

According to the university, the 30,000-square-foot building renovation began in the summer of 2021. Trottier Hall's Nursing Simulation and Clinical Education Center opened last spring, while the university welcomed students to the new Division of Business and Security Studies facility this fall.

"Aligned with our commitment to real-world, active learning, the Nursing Simulation and Clinical Education Center and new Business and Security Studies facilities give students the opportunity to learn in environments consistent with those they will find as they launch their careers," Buley said. "The state-of-the-art simulation labs and advanced technology within these walls provide a higher level of learning to Rivier students."

The nursing center, which launched with a $1 million donation from a benefactor, features six new simulation labs and assessment areas, two classrooms, a lecture hall and faculty offices.

Meanwhile, the Division of Business and Security Studies facility includes cybersecurity labs that mirror a professional security operations center, collaboration space, a technology hub and office suites.

The university called the transformation of Sylvia Trottier Hall a milestone in the school's multi-year campus enhancement plan.

Rivier opened a new 36,000-square-foot Science and Innovation Center in the fall of 2020.

This fall, the school will break ground on Rivier Village, an apartment-style residential complex for upper-level students. Rivier Village is expected to open two residential buildings in the fall of 2023.
