Massachusetts State Police said Interstate195 westbound in Fairhaven was shut down Thursday afternoon after a tractor-trailer collision.

FAIRHAVEN, MA — The westbound side of Interstate 195 in Fairhaven was shut down Thursday afternoon after a "serious" crash involving a tractor-trailer. Two people were seriously hurt and a medical helicopter was requested to the scene, according to Massachusetts State Police. Live traffic maps showed a roughly 5-mile backup on the highway from Mattpoisett to New Bedford.
State Police said the tractor-trailer crashed, rolled and ended up horizontal, blocking all lanes of traffic. Traffic was diverted to Route 240 as first responders worked the scene. There was an oil spill on the road, police said.
The westbound section of the highway is "expected to remain closed well into evening rush," State Police tweeted. There were reports of several more injured individuals.
