Why are you seeking elective office?
NH lags behind other New England states in renewable energy, medical malpractice transparency laws, mental health services, etc. As a pragmatist and moderate I want to continue to support common-sense solutions to make life better for NH residents.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
energy supply rates. I intend to support bills that reduce energy usage such as NHSaves and increase renewable energy in our region.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
Experience in the legislature, my technical business background, training and experience as a social worker; broad travel experience, national & international, for both business and pleasure.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.
I strongly support government transparency, secularism, and a focus on policy as the foundations of our democracy. NH residents value individualism and I strongly support keeping government out of medical decisions and protecting one's bodily autonomy. I strongly support public education and the right of every child, no matter where they live in NH, to an adequate education. I believe that income inequality is a threat to democracy and that anyone who works for a living should be able to provide for the basics of food and shelter. I support voting rights and voted for an independent redistricting commission to take politics out of the redistricting process, and I am a strong environmentalist.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I survived that last 2 years in the NH legislature, which were quite difficult.
The best advice ever shared with me was:
Have faith in serendipity! But, I also have a few favorite sayings: "For evil to triumph it is only necessary for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke And, "If you think you are too small to effect change, try sleeping with a mosquito". - Dahli Lama
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
If my values align with theirs, I would appreciate their vote. If not, that is our democratic system and I will accept the results.
