Solid Waste Dept. Nov. Holiday Schedules

Mark your trash collection calendars.

All City Departments, including Solid Waste, will be closed on Tuesday, November 6 for Election Day. The Four Hills Landfill / Nashua Recycling Center will be closed and there will be no curbside collections on that day.

The Monday’s routes will follow the normal schedule on November 5, but Tuesday’s routes will be picked up on Wednesday, November 7, Wednesday’s routes on Thursday, November 8, and Thursday’s neighborhoods on Friday, November 9. Residents of Friday areas will be picked up on Saturday, November 10.

All curbside collections of recycling, soft yard wastes and trash will follow the normal schedule on Veteran’s Day (observed), Monday, November 12, and throughout that week. The Four Hills Landfill / Nashua Recycling Center will be open for normal operation from Monday, November 12 through Saturday, November 17. However, the office at the Landfill will be closed on Monday, November 12.

During THANKSGIVING week, the normal schedule will be followed from Monday through Wednesday. On Thursday, November 22, the Four Hills Landfill will be closed, and there will be no curbside collections that day. Thursday’s routes will be picked up on Friday, November 23, and Friday’s routes will be collected on Saturday, November 24.

In anticipation of high volumes of soft yard wastes, the Four Hills Landfill / Nashua Recycling Center will be open extended hours for residents on Saturdays November 10, 17 and 24. On those days, the scale will close down at 12:45 pm, and ONLY RESIDENTIAL soft yard wastes, trash and recycling will be accepted. No construction & demolition debris and no commercial waste will be accepted.

OVERSIZED ITEMS
The Nashua Solid Waste Department’s special collections for oversized items will end for this season on Friday November 2nd, and will resume in April 2013. Appointments for the last collection week must be received by 3 pm on Friday, October 26.

The Nashua Solid Waste Department’s special collections for oversized items will end for this season on Friday November 2nd, and will resume in April 2013. Appointments for the last collection week must be received by 3 pm on Friday, October 26. Residents may continue to bring oversized items directly to the Four Hills Landfill at 840 West Hollis Street during normal operating hours, Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm and on Saturdays from 8 am to 1 pm. A residential permit is required to use the facility. Examples of oversized items include mattresses, furniture, and refrigerators.

SOFT YARD WASTE
The curbside collection of Soft Yard Wastes will continue through the week of November 30, weather permitting. Residents with valid permits may bring yard wastes directly to the Nashua Recycling Center.

The Four Hills Landfill / Nashua Recycling Center will be open extended hours on three Saturdays in November to accommodate the high volume of yard waste. On November 10, November 17, and November 24, the facility will be open from 8 am to 4 pm. On those Saturdays, the scale will close down at 12:45 pm and only residential yard waste, trash, and single stream recycling may be accepted during the extra hours.
