As many of you know, the craft beer community in New Hampshire is on fire. The growth is primarily due to the rising demand for superlative beer and some favorable changes in New Hampshire liquor laws that are allowing for a more competitive beer marketplace. The little guys are getting in the game!
In Southern New Hampshire alone there are at least four brand new craft brewers either starting operations or relocating to this area. If there are any others out there, please let me know because I like to be first in line! Southern New Hampshire is joining the craft beer revolution.
Out.haus Ales is a brand new craft brewer from Northwood that is distributing to beer outlets all over the state. I have seen their products at The Beer Store in Nashua. Another new craft brewer, Nashua's Agner & Wolf Brewery Corporation, opened without a lot of fanfare and just started distributing its beers in New Hampshire this month. They brew to the specifications of the German Beer Purity Law or Reinheitsgebot. I bought an Altbier at the Craft Beer Cellar in Portsmouth yesterday. Sehr gut. The 603 Brewery opened the doors to its new brewery in Londonderry late last year. I stopped in on opening day to sample some of their fresh hoppy ales which were great. Finally, the Able Ebeneezer Brewing Company plans to open its doors in Merrimack this spring. I plan to have one of the founders on my Access Nashua show, Discovering Possibilities, next week to talk about their new venture into the community.
Next week I am airing a show that will look at the community building potential of the craft beer culture at large. The show will feature my beer geek son, Brian Kervick and elder beer snob, yours truly. It should be fun.
These are exciting times for the craft beer community and for lovers of fresh local ales and lagers. It is also a great time for small business development, which is great for community building. Support our new businesses. Buy a craft beer and participate in the revolution. Prost!
