Adaptive Swim Lessons (for children ages 5-10)
Red fish, blue fish, special swim lessons for your fish! Adaptive lessons at the Y are designed for children with special needs. Instructors will use the curriculum of the YMCA of the USA swim program, using modified approach to foster the learning process for your unique child. We use a combination of verbal, visual and hands on instruction to best serve each child’s learning style. Two groups are offered: Red Fish is designed for children with cognitive special needs. Blue Fish is designed for children with physical needs. Both of our facilities offer family changing locker rooms, as well as a handicap accessible chair lift to get in/out of the pool.
Red Fish is held at the Nashua Y on Tuesdays from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. and on Wednesdays at the Merrimack Y from 5:50 p.m. to 6:20 p.m. Blue Fish is held in Nashua on Thursdays from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m.
