St. Joseph Hospital CEO Resigns, Interim CEO Named

David Ross leaving his post after 16 months, heading back to Missouri.

David Ross, President and CEO of St. Joseph Hospital, has resigned effective immediately, the hospital announced. Ross is returning to Missouri to attend to personal family matters.

Ross joined St. Joseph Hospital in April of 2010 having previously served as President and CEO of Barnes-Jewish St. Peters in Missouri.

“On behalf of the St. Joseph Hospital Board of Directors, we thank David for his time and successes at St. Joseph Hospital and wish him well. We will keep David and his family in our prayers,” stated Louise Trottier, Chairwoman, St. Joseph Hospital Board of Directors.

James Hamill will begin serving as interim CEO immediately. Hamill is a retired healthcare executive, most recently serving as President and CEO of Meritus Health from 2000 – 2011. Under his leadership, Meritus Health was among the first truly clinically integrated healthcare systems recognized by the Federal Trade Commission.

“Jim Hamill is a trusted colleague and accomplished healthcare leader,” said David Lincoln, President and CEO of Covenant Health Systems. “He has served on the Covenant Board of Directors for a total of 16 years while leading some of the most successful hospitals and health systems in Illinois, Iowa and Maryland. We are grateful that he has graciously agreed to serve as interim President and CEO of St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua.”

St. Joseph Hospital Board of Directors will begin the search process for a permanent replacement in the coming weeks.
