NASHUA, NH — The state will drop a homicide charge against a Nashua man after learning of his death on Monday.

Jacob Abraham, 28, of Auburn Street in Nashua was charged with second-degree murder in November 2021, accused of beating his grandmother, Cynthia Toupin, 71, to death. He was arrested in Lowell, Massachusetts, the day after her body was found after police and fire and rescue teams were sent to Toupin’s home for a suspicious death investigation.

Abraham was being held at the Valley Street Jail when he suffered “a medical event earlier this month,” Meghan Hagaman, an assistant attorney general, said. The episode led to his hospitalization. Last week, Abraham was taken to hospice care and he died around noon on Monday.
