It's not quite cold enough for Snowtember, but there is some weather heading your way, according to the National Weather Service.

That means you have some time to plan ahead for the wind and rain and possible power outages that often go along with windy, rainy storms in these parts.

  • If you can plan a make ahead dinner that doesn't require electricity, you'll be one step ahead.
  • Make sure you have flashlights or even head lamps for the kids (available wherever you guy camping gear, from Kmart to LLBean) so homework isn't an issue.
  • Check in on elderly friends or relatives and make sure they are prepared and safe.
  • Throw in a load of laundry ASAP if there are clothes you'll need for tomorrow.

  • Today: Rain likely, with thunderstorms possible after 2 p.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 73. Southeast wind 8 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Tonight: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Patchy fog before 2 a.m. Low around 62. Breezy, with a south wind 17 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
  • Wednesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 11 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Patchy fog between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. High near 66. West wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
