Why are you seeking elective office?

I’ve been a selectman in ward 2 for many years, been involved in the political process since 2002, and ran for Hillsborough County Commissioner district 2 a few years ago winning some wards but not enough. I am running again because I care deeply about the community and citizens of New Hampshire. I want to be a voice for them in matters they bring up to me that make sense for the community. I am one of the few people who have stepped up to run for a write-in position for Hillsborough County Commissioner district 2.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

I want to improve the staffing levels for the Hillsborough County of Corrections, nursing home, and other county settings. I want to do this while balancing the need to maintain a low tax rate.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I don’t want to put a big spotlight on mistakes the other candidate might have made. I am running a positive campaign. All I can do is talk about why I am running. I hope to work together with everyone involved and to listen to their point of view and take that into consideration with the communities and my own perspectives.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

I am sure there have been failures as well as successes from the current officeholder. I bring a new perspective to this office. I hope to continue in this office with more successes.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

I support improving the county nursing home by interviewing residents and faculty to determine if there are any flaws. Then correcting them. I support working with the county attorney in beneficial ways. I support law enforcement, the county sheriff, and them taking steps to win the trust of the community, I advocate for those with mental health problems to take a path that is right for them to advance that is the least damaging to the community. And finally work with the County administration and register of deeds.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I served on the Governors task force for the creation of the 10 year mental health plan. I have long been active in NAMI NH. I am driven to succeed. I am sure that because I have been politically active for some years, experienced a significant other in nursing homes, have knowledge of the mental health system, and have talked to people who have been in the correction system, and value law enforcement that I will do a great job with even more successes.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

Winter always turns into spring just as there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Whatever hardship one is having, can eventually be a springboard for growth.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I want to improve the accessibility of phone communications in the house of corrections so there can be improved communication for both sides.
