Strike 3 for Leaving Grocery Store Without Paying

Because of two prior convictions, Stephanie Gay now faces up to 7 years in prison.

Stephanie Gay, 43, of 88 Old Milford Rd., Brookline, was charge with felony theft with unauthorized taking after she allegedly left Market Basket on Northwest Boulevard yesterday without paying for a cart-load of groceries.

Police said n Dec. 20 at approximately 12:45 p.m., Gay was arrested after she was seen leaving the store with the merchandise and charged by Nashua Poilce with Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer, a Class B Felony. The charge was upgraded to a felony once police determined she had two prior theft convictions on her record.

A Class B felony is punishable by up to seven years imprisonment in State Prison, exclusive of fines. Gay was released from the Nashua Police Department on $1000 cash bail and has a pending arraignment date in Nashua District Court on January 23, 2012.
