Three Nabbed in Downtown Copper Thefts

Two arrests made Sept. 13 and a third arrest, Sept. 30. Police said additional charges and arrests are expected.

Three men were arrested in connection with a series of recent copper thefts in Nashua.

Steven Hoag, 22,  of 6 Eleventh St., Nashua, was arrested Sept. 30 and charged with burglary, a class B felony. Two others, Corey Jordan, 18, of 727 West Hollis St., Nashua; and Luis Roque, 19, with no fixed address, were arrested on Sept. 13, police said.

Jordan is charged with two counts of Burglary, class B felony; Criminal Liability for the Conduct of Another to Burglary, class B felony; Theft, class A misdemeanor and Criminal Mischief, class A misdemeanor. Roque is charged with three counts of Burglary, class B felony.

Jordan and Roque were arrested after being discovered by police officers inside a downtown building, allegedly stealing copper from inside. The building had been under surveillance by the Problem Oriented Policing Unit in response to ongoing thefts of copper there.

Detectives assigned to the Burglary Unit furthered the investigation, and Hoag was developed as a suspect in the burglaries from the same building. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Jordan was additionally charged in connection with a residential burglary reported in September.

Additional criminal charges are expected to be forthcoming against Jordan and Hoag. Additional arrests are also expected in the ongoing investigation into copper-related burglaries.

A class B felony is punishable by up to seven years imprisonment, exclusive of fines, for each count. A class A misdemeanor is punishable by up to one year imprisonment, exclusive of fines, for each count. Roque and Jordan are currently being held at the Hillsborough County House of Correction on a $10,000 cash or surety bail.  Hoag was released on a $7,500 person recognizance bail, pending his upcoming arraignment.
