Commercial Truck Takes Out Utility Pole In Nashua, Hundreds Without Power

A pole is being repaired on Amherst Street after a crash Wednesday; the street is closed; 367 Eversource customers are without power.

NASHUA, NH — Hundreds of Eversource customers are without power after a commercial truck struck a utility pole on Amherst Street on Wednesday morning.

According to the Nashua Fire Marshal’s Office, the crash occurred in the westbound lane of the road. Alarms were activated in the area due to a power surge after the crash, keeping crews busy for about 30 minutes responding to them.

“The situation is under control and there were no serious injuries related to the accident,” the office said on Facebook.

Eversource is working to repair the damage and restore power. About 367 customers are without electricity. The company posted a restoration time of 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday on its outage map.

The fire marshal’s office said Amherst Street was closed in both directions between Somerset Parkway and Sunapee Street.

“This will be for an extended period of time today,” the post said. “Please avoid the area and seek alternate routes.”
