The Honda was spotted by State Police Trooper George Driscoll, who was working a construction detail on the southbound side of Route 495 at Exit 39 in Tewksbury. Driscoll notified state police in Andover and began to follow the Honda until the arrival of Trooper David Crouse, who placed the operator and passenger under arrest.
During a search of the vehicle police recovered a black firearm from under the front passenger’s side seat. Trooper Driscoll determined the firearm to be a BB gun with markings which made the firearm look authentic. Both individuals were identified by a witness who observed the robbery, police said.
