My name is Crystal Mellen. I've lived in Nashua for about five years now. I come from small town and the move to a big city was a shock for me. Last year in October we moved to a larger apartment to accommodate my youngest sons arrival. The apartment needed some work but it was the space we needed.
One of the problems that needed attention was the boiler. My husband would have to go down in the basement and fill it up manually in order for us to have heat. This was alright until one day the boiler exploded all over him. We called the landlord and someone came right out to look at it, but sadly it could not be fixed right away and we went without heat for almost 4 days.
I was very frustrated and decided to vent on Facebook that Sunday night about the terrible situation my family was in. About thirty minutes after my post I got a message from Diane Sheehan. She asked a few questions about our situation and within an hour the Mayor knew of our problem.
Diane assured me that she would help us in any way she could. Diane made sure I knew all the resources to call, and offered space heaters and anything else we needed until our heat was fixed. The very next day I had code enforcement at my apartment making sure everything was safe for my husband and I and our two young sons. Diane also tried to get us a hotel room for the night to escape the frigid mess that was our apartment. I do not know how long we would have been in that mess if it weren't for Diane. She went out of her way, on her own time to make sure we were alright.
Diane Sheehan is the very best and I could not thank her enough! She'll have my vote on Tuesday, I hope she has yours too!
