Why are you seeking elective office?

I love New Hampshire and respect those who call it home. I am running for State Representative to preserve the health of our beautiful environment, and ensure dignity and equality for all.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The Environment - Climate change, pollution and habitat loss threaten New Hampshire's fresh air, beautiful mountains, rivers and seacoast more than ever. I will fight to conserve New Hampshire’s natural gifts, for example by supporting responsible energy and sustainable development policies.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I have family and friends on both sides of our nation's growing cultural divide. I will work passionately for the priorities of Nashua, while respecting the sincerity of those with opposing positions.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

All State Representatives from Nashua Ward 8 are currently Democrats, I am running to replace Representative Skip Cleaver, who is not seeking reelection.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

In addition to focusing on protection of the environment, I will look for solutions to make Nashua a more affordable city to live and raise a family; endeavor to guarantee access to abortion, birth control and family planning choices in state law; and continue to push for quality public education for all students.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

As an engineer, I have learned to consider several approaches and consult with others during design, and look for alternatives if the initial solution does not work as expected. As a manager, I have learned to listen first and understand the needs of others.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

My father told me - "Things always work out in the end;" it inspires optimism even when the forecast is gloomy.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

Having lived in several Northeastern states before moving to New Hampshire 28 years ago, I appreciate the diversity of activities across the state. As an ardent outdoorsman, I treasure time spent on our beautiful lakes, forests, mountains and seacoast.
