World Academy Awards Three $1,000 Alumni Scholarships for 2019
Recent high school graduates Varun Lingadal, Sonali Thakkar, and Xahn Frater have been selected as the 2019 Alumni Scholarship recipients.
NASHUA, NH --- World Academy is pleased to announce that recent high school graduates Varun Lingadal, Sonali Thakkar, and Xahn Frater have been selected as the 2019 recipients of the World Academy Alumni Scholarship Awards!
In the program’s third year, the graduates join the ranks of World Academy alumni to receive the $1,000 scholarship intended to support each at their college or university of choice. Since 2017, the World Academy Alumni Association has recognized high school graduates of notable distinction who have attended the academically rigorous school in Nashua.
Previous recipients of the Alumni Scholarship Awards have demonstrated their prowess as dedicated students, skilled athletes, and thoughtful members of their respective academic communities, going on to study at prestigious institutions including Temple University and Trinity College. This year’s talented group of recipients is no different, having excelled both academically and athletically during their high school careers.

Varun graduated from Nashua North High School this spring with High Honors and plans to begin his studies at Dartmouth College in the fall where he will study Molecular Biology and Biomedical Engineering. Throughout his time at Nashua North, Varun has distinguished himself academically and also proven himself as a valuable member of the school’s Math Team and Division I baseball team, both inside the batter’s box and on the pitcher’s mound.
Sonali, who graduated from Bishop Guertin High School after attending World Academy for nine years, was a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, as well as President of the STEM Club. She seeks to expand her scientific knowledge at the University of Vermont in the fall.

Xahn, a Nashua native, graduated this spring as an esteemed athlete. After attending World Academy for 12 years, Xahn attended Bishop Guertin, then Berwick Academy in Maine, where he contributed greatly to the Berwick Bulldogs’ Varsity basketball program. He plans to take his talents both on and off the court to Gordon College in the fall.
School President Kathy Nelson describes all three alumni as a “great credit to World Academy, their families and their high schools. We begin the process of building these fabulous people and they take that foundation to great heights. They make our work of such value. We wish them a future as bright as they are!”
