World Academy Boys Take Top Spot in Holiday Basketball Tournament

NorthStar Boys Knocked Out 1st-Place Lurgio To Win It All; WA Girls Earn Victory Through Semi-Finals

The 2017 Milford Holiday Basketball Tournament ended in an underdog victory this year with the Division 3 World Academy NorthStar Boys taking the title against 1st Place, Division 1 Lurgio in the finals on December 29.

After winning the semifinals against Elm St. Middle School on the 28th by a score of 79-33, the World Academy boys, under the guidance of Coach Erik Congdon, took on Lurgio. The score remained a close for most of the championship game, with Lurgio even taking the lead in the 4th quarter, but World Academy came from behind and knocked in a few shots down the stretch to take the lead with only minutes left in the final quarter.

The NorthStar Boys took home the Championship trophy, adding to their so-far undefeated 9-0 Season.
