World Academy Takes 3rd Place At Seacoast MathCounts Regionals
World Academy's MathCounts team will now move on to compete at the State-Level competition, which will be held in March.

Durham, NH - On Saturday, Feb 2nd, the Math Team from World Academy in Nashua came in 3rd place at the Annual Seacoast MathCounts Regional competition. The team included World Academy students Sami Witta, Perry Mourtzinos, Ayush Chakraborty, and Hrushikesh Sankar.
In what has become a prestigious competition among local schools, these four World Academy students competed against 13 other regional middle school teams, comprised of over 90 total participants.
For the first two rounds, students competed independently. The third round, held as a team, saw the students work in groups of 4 to compete against other teams. The top-scoring individuals from the first two rounds then came together to compete in a fast-paced, head to head oral round where problems posted on a projector and the two contestants race to finish the problem.
Among the World Academy students in competition, Sami Witta placed 12th in the individual round; Hrushikesh Sankar placed 10th in the individual round.

While many of the other competing teams had individual high scorers, the World Academy team managed a third-place position without having an individual top high scorer. That the World Academy team scored above average as a team speaks to value of strong team communication and collaboration.
World Academy students Duran Jauregui Morris, Sudarshan Prasanna, and Elaine Zhan also competed with strong showings all around. World Academy's MathCounts team will now move on to compete at the State-Level competition, which will be held in March at Plymouth State University on March 9, 2019.
