Free, family fun at the Merrimack Y

Healthy Kids Day is this Saturday (May 17) - Rain or Shine!

AWAKEN SUMMER IMAGINATION WITH YMCA HEALTHY KIDS DAY!

The YMCA of Greater Nashua is holding a free community event to inspire more kids to keep their minds and bodies active all summer long. Healthy Kids Day®, the Y’s national initiative to improve families’ health and well-being, features games, healthy cooking demonstrations, arts and crafts, magicians, fire trucks and ambulances and more to motivate and teach families how to develop healthy routines at home. To continue our commitment to teach healthy habits for kids and families, encourage physical and mental play, and inspire a lifetime love of exercise, we’re excited to host HEALTHY KIDS DAY®.

HEALTHY KIDS DAY IS May 19th from 11am-1pm at the Merrimack YMCA. This year, Healthy Kids Day will once again inspire parents and kids to stay physically and intellectually active all summer long, in an effort to address critical needs in health and education.

Healthy Kids Day, celebrated at over 1,500 Ys across the country by over 1.2 million participants, works to get more kids moving and learning, creating habits that they continue all summer long. When kids are out of school, they can face hurdles that prevent them from reaching their full potential. Research shows that without access to out-of-school learning activities, kids fall behind academically. Kids also gain weight twice as fast during summer than the school year. As spring turns to summer, Healthy Kids Day is a powerful reminder not to let children idle away their summer days. Instead, the Y wants families to focus on helping children imagine what they can accomplish over the summer.
