“We want to make it easier for our members to stay connected with information at their fingertips to help them better maintain healthy lifestyles,” said Elizabeth Covino, director of community relations. “At the Y, our goal is to help our members live stress-free and hassle-free lives in every way, from reducing stress through exercise to providing them with information when and where they need it.”

Through its many features, the YMCA app presents key information on all both branches to mobile device users. They can search for classes by day, time, instructor or class name with instant results to help select fitness options that work best with their interests and schedules. Users can also choose to receive updates on programs and events. A calendar feature conveniently allows users to add Y classes to their personal calendars with one touch so they can develop a regular schedule of exercise. Additionally, a social media feature enables users to share class, program and event information through Facebook, Twitter and email to invite and exercise with friends. Additionally, the community can conveniently make donations in support of the Y’s annual campaign through their mobile devices by using this app.

“Our hope is that this mobile technology will make access to the Y easier and will keep members in-the-know. We are excited to offer the app to the community as a new, free Y service,” Covino added.
